MiniCD Version 3 is based on track sets. This is different to previous versions, which simply played all tracks on a CD. There are three special sets you need to understand:

<LI>The Current Set - This is the active set, the one that is currently being used.
<LI>The Default Set - This is the set that is made the current set when a CD is inserted. Each CD has it's own default set.
<LI>The "All Tracks" set - This is generated automatically for each CD. It contains every track in the proper order.

To begin altering the track sets, choose Edit Sets... from the middle popup menu. A large window is displayed with many options. The picture below is a close representation of the window that is shown; click in any part of the picture below to jump to help about that part.<P>
Choose "New" to create a new track set. The new set is displayed in the list to the right, where you can change the order and what tracks are wanted. "New" is always available.
Choose "Delete" to get rid of the set currently displayed. Note that you can not get rid of the set called "All Tracks". "Delete" is not available when this set is currently being edited.<P>

Note that only user defined sets can be altered, which is why the left hand picture above has it's buttons greyed out. Each button operates in some way on the list of tracks on the right hand side of the window. Some buttons only affect the 'required' tracks; others affect all tracks. The table below describes what each button does. <p>
This feature allows you to arrange the tracks so that they will fit comfortably on a cassette tape or other fixed-length recording medium. A CD should not contain more than 74 minutes of music, therefore any CD should fit onto a 90 minute tape.<P>
The default tape length is 90 minutes. You can change the tape length by typing in a new value in the box provided.<P>
Clicking on "Generate" will take the tracks to be played from the current set you are editing and create two new sets, one for side A of the tape and one for side B. Side A will be as full as possible, leaving the smallest gap at the end as is possible. Side B will contain the remaining tracks and may have a long gap at the end.<P>
Clicking on "Print Cover" will print a tape box insert with the disk title and the tracks on each side of the tape.<P>
To record tracks off a CD onto a tape, follow this sequence:<P>
1. Insert the CD into the drive.<P>
2. Bring up the Edit Sets window<P>
3. Make a new set by clicking on "New"<P>
4. Choose the tracks you want to copy to the tape<P>
5. If the tape is not 90 minutes long, type in the correct length<P>
6. Click on "Generate"<P>
7. If you want to print a tape cover, you must have Quickdraw GX installed on your machine. Select the set for side A or side B from the popup menu and click on "Print Cover". A tape cover will be produced that will fit into a regular tape box.<P>
8. Click on "OK"<P>
9. Once back at the small green MiniCD window, select the set called "90 Minute Tape, Side A" (The length will have changed if you changed it).<P>
10. Connect a tape recorder to the CD player<P>
11. When you are ready, commence the copy operation<P>
12. If there are any tracks for side B, repeat steps 8 to 10 for the set called "90 Minute Tape, Side B".<P>
13. If you no longer want the sets you have created, go back to the Edit Sets window, select the sets one at a time from the popup menu and click on 'Delete'.<P>

<H3><A NAME="editing set">Editing The Current Set</A></H3><P>
<TD>This list shows the track order and the tracks that are to be played. You can move tracks by clicking and dragging to the new location.<P>

<LI>The popup menu lets you choose any set for the CD currently in the drive. If a CD is currently playing, then the set that is being used is shown in bold. Note that you can't edit the first set (which is called "All Tracks").<P>
<LI>The red lines are called markers. The top one is the 'Tracks to be played' marker (and can't be moved). The second one is the 'Unwanted Tracks' marker (and can be moved).<P>
<LI>Tracks that are going to be played are shown in black, whilst those that will not be played are shown in grey. Tracks that are going to be played are referred to elsewhere in this document as 'Required Tracks'<P>
<LI>The total play time for the tracks to be played is shown at the bottom of the list.</ul></TD></TR>
